September/October 2014 Topic on the horizon…

Did you know the September/October 2014 is already on the horizon? As of July 1 the NSDA released the topic area and topic choices here. Voting runs between August 7-14. Students and coaches get to vote on which topic they would prefer to debate the first two months of the school year.

If you’re getting bored with summer doldrums, I suggest getting on top of the research now. Research before you vote so that you’re picking the topic you’d rather debate, not just the topic you already “know” something about.

The topic is…

TOPIC AREA: Sports in the United States

Choice 1 – Resolved: On balance, students in grades 6-12 in the United States benefit when their schools offer interscholastic sports.

Choice 2 – Resolved: On balance, public subsidies for professional athletic organizations in the United States benefit their local communities.

The final topic will be released August 15.

Stefan Bauschard Debate has already released a topic analysis and research bibliography for Topic 1.
